The weather has been particularly mild of late and this has seen an increase in numbers on the bait pond. Best tactics have been ledger with green and yellow powerbait tops. However, double maggot fished under a float has also done the trick. Mr Muir had three beauties for 15lb on power bait and Mr. Weir had 4 for 8lb on maggot. R. McGovern from Dunbar had 2 for 7lb on maggots whilst J. Rose had 3 for 8lb 8oz and L. Rose had 3 for 8lb both anglers used power bait. Jock Dubickas had a nice one of 5lb on worm. B. Gillan had 3 for 6lb 8oz on worm and G. Darge had 6 for 9lb 8oz on various baits. G. McGovern had 3 for 6lb on maggot.
Let's hope the mild spell goes on for the rest of the month but beware March was when we got our winter last year!

The best fish of the month, so far, is an 8lb specimen caught by William McHardy, Edinburgh, on green powerbait. Other good catches were 3 for 8lb 8oz for William Pryde on powerbait; 1 @ 5lb and one @ 4lb 8oz for Mr. Scougall on maggots; 3 for 9lb 8oz for J. Rankin on maggot; 6 for 13lb Gordon Slacklaw; 7 for 14lb for Cushy; 6 for 12lb on powerbait for K. Mac Crae; 3 for 8lb also on powerbait for C. Menzies; 3 for 8lb 12oz for B Hendry; 3for 7lb 8oz for T. Quinn; 7 for 14lb for W. Gilhooley; a cracker of 6lbs for Lloyd Orr; 3 for 9lbs for Andrew Ovens.
Bait fishing has been consistently good even through the hot weather and so we can look forward to some great catches as the fish feed heavily before winter arrives! Powerbait remains the top bait but worm and maggot are also consistent. Try using 5lb breaking strain line as this will induce more takes. Tight lines.
